Dyawna Gamble

I am sophomore at The University of Memphis studying Journalism. I would describe myself as a person who sees details, tells stories and speaks for the unspoken. My freshman year alone I published 22 articles. I wrote for the Daily Helmsman and interned with the University of Memphis Athletic Department. Continuing that internship into my sophomore year and taking Multimedia Storytelling has made a huge impact on my craft.

Youth Pastor Donovan Moody of Life Church Memphis is a difference maker. Attending Life Church for 16 years has shaped his heart to love like Jesus loves. Making a difference in his community and impacting the youth at his church is a big goal for him, a goal he works out well.

This project showcases the work of Veronica Parker, who works for Campus Outreach, a Christian discipleship organization. Veronica is involved at the University of Memphis campus, her alma mater, and this project highlights a little of what she does daily on campus in audio storytelling production form. This project is a great example of Veronica's passion for Jesus, her dedication to campus outreach, and her desire to impact and lead students to Christ.

He is a lead pastor of Axis. "Axis is a youth group through the Life Church. For 6th through 12th grade students to be able to come up and spend some time together in a Christian community. We worship, preach about the Bible, we have time for building relationships, and we just have a lot of fun."

On Wednesday, November 20th, 2024, at the Life Church of Memphis Highland location, Axis "Tribesgiving addition" was hosted. Where 6th through 12th graders, volunteers, and staff who all invested in a Thanksgiving potluck engaged in worship and hearing the word.

Pastor Moody has been impacting the youth long before he became a youth pastor. He has been a youth pastor for four years. Moody says, "be a leader, to be somebody the youth feel comfortable with, they can talk to, they can be encouraged by. It means me giving back for the people that impacted me when I was a youth."

Some unseen things that Moody feels encourage the students are being a male role model in the eyes of the students that walk through the doors. "A lot of the students we have don't have that... The students would describe me as an uncle, big brother, or sometimes father."

It's so fulfilling I wouldn't rather do anything else." - Donovan Moody

Trinity Walker stars in this slideshow, through a series of beautifully composed photos, and it tells the story of a heartwarming day Walker spent with her dog Mamba.

She made a stop at the University of Memphis Market to get some snacks and food for a picnic. It was a perfect sunny day out so she made her picnic, ate, and got in the word.

After she went to get some boba before heading home.
